A Spicy Tart

I made this for our tea last night and it was gone in minutes - will definatly be making this on a regular basis - delicious

Ingredients

For the Topping

  • 1 Portion of Spicy Tomato Sauce
  • 6 peices of Sliced Chorizo
  • 6 peices of Sliced Pepperoni
  • 1/2 peices of wafer thin ham
  • 100g Mozzorella Cheese (grated)
  • 1 Finely Sliced Red Onion
  • Garlic Oil - to drizzle
  • 1 Packet Ready Roll Puff Pastry

For The Sauce
  • 6 Juicy Ripe Tomatoes
  • 1 Red Chilli
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • Good squeeze Concentrated Tomato Puree
  • Good Squeeze Garlic/Oil paste
  • 1 Small Finely Chopped Red Onion
  • 3 small Finely Chopped Carrots
  • 1 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 Small Pepper (red or green) finely chopped
  • 2 Table spoons Olive Oil

Makes 1 Large Flan - Serves 2/4 persons (depending on how hungry you are)

METHOD

For the sauce:

Finely chop all ingredients - put in frying pan and cook for approx 10 min, or until tender, then blend with either hand blender or food processor

Press through a sieve for a really smooth sauce or leave as it is for a rustic sauce

Bring it all together
  • Roll out the ready roll puff pastry onto a greased or non-stick baking tray
  • Spread a generous layer of the sauce over the pastry
  • evenly space out the ham, pepperoni, chorizo and onions over the base
  • sprinkle with cheese
  • drizzle with garlic oil, salt & pepper to taste
  • Bake in oven at 200 degrees for btwn 12-18 mins depending on oven - until the cheese is bubbling and browning all over
Why not try this for yourself - change the toppings to make it interesting - like a pizza you can add what you fancy or use up whats in the fridge - let me know how you get on
